Mindmap of Hometowns
My Home Town
I was born in Romania, Piatra Neamt in a small little village called Izvoare. I grew up there until I was 8 years old. I had many fun memories of my childhood there and the activities I used to do without the existence of the internet, including hide and seek, tag, stealing fruits from neighbor's gardens during the summer, and other mischievous things our curious minds used to wonder about.
I grew up with my grandparents in their house, which made me think of the good times when grandma used to cook food for us all after school/work.
Piatra Neamt
Piatra Neamt is a town in Ias where unique architecture and design take place, a wonderful location where people get together. Piatra Neamt has a population of 105 499 people and 77.2km² worth of land space with each corner filled with unique and interesting buildings.
Piatra Neamt Color Scheme
The color scheme for this place would be white for most of the buildings, almost all of them have red rooftops which gives a distinct look to the buildings. Green as the place is usually surrounded by forests and trees, especially in the summer. Some buildings have a pale yellow look, giving them an old, outdated, classic look. The roads have a classic grey road due to the tar, while some have yellow-orange floor tiles.
Wide shot of Piatra Neamt featuring all the color schemes I mentioned, but this time also includes the warm red-orange and some purple in the very back from the light of the sun.
Piatra Neamt Logo/Slogan
This is the official Piatra Neamt Logo, The yellow and black stripes along with the deer jumping across the forest in the middle of the logo and the wheat on the edge of the circle. I really like the design of this logo since it looks very eye-pleasing and unique.
Some changes could be made to make the logo look more simple and more iconic as there is too much going on with the logo
Slogan
Piatra Neamt also has a slogan "Hai La Piatra" which means "Come to Piatra" as a way of inviting new people into this town. This slogan is great and sounds unique.
Primary Research - Photos of Home Town
These photos are really old, but they are the only photos that my mother and I photographed. The first photo was when I went back to my hometown in 2017 during the wintertime and traveled with a cable car on top of the mountain and managed to take this photo before getting on with our day. This photo was taken during the golden hour as the ambient light really made this landscape stand out.
Piatra Neamt Transportation Systems
One of the most iconic methods of transportation in Piatra Neamt has to be the "Telecondola", which is an orange cable car that moves along a wire in the sky, transporting people from mountains to Piatra Neamt.
I really like this method of transportation as it is by far the most unique way of transporting people from place to place. The design of the orange wagon looks really eye-pleasing too.
Piatra Neamt Buses
A very typical approach to the design of the buses, a standard yellow coating around the bus provides a more American-like style while the shape of the bus is quite basic, as it looks like a standard rectangular prism on wheels.
I quite like this more basic approach to the design of the buses, as its only function is to transport people while providing a safe journey along the way, while some improvements could be made in terms of aesthetics.
Piatra Neamt Taxis
Taxis also have a standard yellow look to them, almost every taxi car utilizes the 2004 Dacia Logan which is the only iconic thing about these taxis, they all have a different shade of yellow to them, mainly because of the lack of new paint jobs on the taxi.
This form of transportation can be quite expensive sometimes, depending on how far the client is traveling. Personally, I like the idea of only using one model of the car as people can instantly recognize taxis without giving the cars a second thought.
Planning a New Look
When planning a new look for Piatra Neamt, I tend to look at the whole city and see the positives, negatives, and what can be changed, by using a birds-eye view to observe the city, I can get a good idea of what I would like the city to not only look like but also how it will be represented as.
Mood Board of Color Scheme
The buildings will be yellow along with red rooftops and blue for some houses, and the roads will have a grey look with yellow road lines.
Sketches of New Transport Designs
These were my ideas of what I would like the new methods of transportation to look like. I've taken inspiration from the headlights of the original cable car vehicle ("Telecondola") and placed them onto the new and improved designs of these vehicles.
Bus
I gave the bus a more modern look as the old one looked too blocky and old. I've added frames on the side of the bus for aesthetic purposes along with a new description of the bus informing people where the bus is heading, I also included the time as a nice addition to the design.
Rail Car (Telecondola)
The rail car already had a unique look to the original design and was having a hard time deciding on a new proper look, but eventually, I created this new model, and I took inspiration from the original design and changed the body of the rail car to a more aerodynamic look, while also keeping the unique look of the original design.
Overall, I really like how the sketches turned out and I'm hoping that the final product will look as planned.
Sketch of New Logo
This is my sketch for the new logo, I've taken inspiration from the original logo and modified its appearance. The logo has its iconic reindeer jumping over the woods and because of this, I prioritized the reindeer as the main part of the logo and added Norway Spruce trees above the reindeer's antlers along with the year 1919 when Piatra Neamt was discovered. I really like the new look of the logo and hope that this prototype will soon be used as the main logo of Piatra Neamt.
Moodboard of Slogan
These are my ideas for new slogans. My hometown does not have many slogans that I can take inspiration from and had to create using my own imagination based on the experiences I've had living there.
Experimentation
Logo
This is my logo prototype that I've made in Illustrator. I really like how this experiment turned out and I will use this prototype as a guide for my original logo.
This is the bus prototype that I've created using Illustrator by drawing the bus using the pen tool, I've taken inspiration from the old bus. This is what I envision the actual bus to look like in the future with a few adjustments.
Color Scheme Experimentation
I have experimented with a bunch of different colors and tried to match my hometown as much as possible using some of the colors that I've selected. I've used the app "Coolurs" for my color selection.

Official Color Scheme
Official Design for New Bus
This is my brand new bus that I've designed using Illustrator, I've taken inspiration from the old bus and have used the same colors the old bus had but on a different body design.
I really like how the new and improved bus looks, I also like the color scheme and the additional blue color that I've added for aesthetic purposes. However, I could have improved the blending of the bus to make it look smoother and closer to realism.
I also did the rail car design in Illustrator, by getting inspiration from the original design of the rail car and made my own design using the pen tool as it is the easiest tool for me to use when it comes to design.
Official Logo Design
With this logo, I completely changed the color scheme and made something of my own. I decided to make the logo green as Piatra Neamț is a forest city that is filled with trees and wildlife. I added a reindeer as the main part of the logo and added a forest above the reindeer's head.
I really tried to change the design and the aesthetic of Piatra Neamt in this project. From the color schemes, the logo, and most of the transport. I changed it quite a bit to make Piatra Neamt stand out more than it already does.
The color scheme I chose really matches Piatra Neamt a lot more than the old one and I'm satisfied with the final product, the color scheme adds more life and adventure to Piatra Neamt compared to the old color scheme which will really captivate more people's attention into living in Piatra Neamt. I chose yellow, red, orange, and green as those colors suit and fit perfectly as a combination.
I have made the transport more modern as most of the old transportation looks outdated and lifeless. I have kept some of the old color schemes in the modern designs to keep in touch with the classic look. The aesthetic of modern transportation really sparks the interest of the viewer to use the improved transportation.
I completely changed the logo of Piatra Neamt to suit it more to how Piatra Neamt actually looks like; The green trees in the forest, the wildlife, and the nature that affects the aesthetic of the place. Because of this, I have chosen a green approach as my main color when designing the logo and added a reindeer as the main part of the logo as that is associated with wisdom, resourcefulness, cleverness, knowledge, creativity, inventiveness, and cleverness, which are all perfect descriptions of Piatra Neamt. I also added a forest above the reindeer's head as Piatra Neamt is covered in forests.
Overall, this has been a wonderful project that I've worked on and has really made me use my creativity a lot more than normal. I enjoyed planning and designing the transportation the most along with the logo. I am really looking forward to new projects like this that allow me to expand my creativity even more than I did with this project.
