Mise en Scene is the arrangement of scenes for theaters or film productions for actors to perform on. Mise en Scene is a French phrase translating to " the action of putting onto the stage " and was created by French film critic Andre Bazin.
High key Lighting
High key lighting is when a particular scene is filled up with lots of light which might cover a large percentage of the scene, stage managers use lots of fill lights to increase the amount of ambient light in a scene while reducing the contrast, this technique is used in films to portray food or beauty products
Example of High key Lighting:
This photo includes high key lighting as the background is fairly lit up, mainly because of the fact that the room is white.
Low key Lighting
Low key lighting is majorly the opposite of high key lighting, as this scene lacks light which can cause the scene to look more dramatic, scary, or narrative films, this style of lighting can also be used to express how the character is feeling within the scene.
Example of Low key Lighting:
This image is a perfect example of low-key lighting as the scene is mainly dark with only the face of a person being shown, indicating a more sad and depressed emotion.
Auter Theory
Auteur Theory is a film criticism concept that emphasizes the director as the "author" of a film, considering them the primary creative force behind its artistic vision. This theory suggests that a director's personal style and thematic consistency can be identified across their body of work, making them the driving force in shaping the film's overall meaning and impact. It originated in French film criticism in the 1950s and has since influenced discussions about filmmaking and artistic authorship.
The 5 Elements of Mise En Scene
Settings and Props
Props can be used to indicate the presence of the character, some props such as knives or any sort of weapons can be used to explicitly show that the character seems to appear dangerous and antisocial, while other props such as sports equipment may implement the fact that the character is engaging in physical sports such as baseball tennis or any other sports.
Example of Settings and Props:
This image shows a person holding a prop, most commonly known as a "tennis racket" indicating that he might be a tennis player.
Costume, Hair & Makeup
The importance of costume, hair, and makeup on characters is major, as it's the first thing you notice about the character, many viewers can be stereotypical about a character's presence, mainly noticing the way the character presents themselves. For example, if a character is equipped with clothing such as masks, large clothes, and weapons, the character is portrayed as being a psychopath or a mass murderer.
Example of Costume, Hair & Makeup:
This clearly depicts a murderer as the character within the image is wearing an old blazer with blood on it along with a terrifying mask that indicates danger to most people. The character has also a machete proving further the fact that he is a murderer.
Facial Expressions & Body Language
Facial Expressions and body Language can be used to identify characters' emotions and feelings, by the way they look and how they move around. If a character is happy and joyful, the character will portray a smile on their face and might act energetic and sociable. However, if a character is sad or depressed, he will look unsatisfied and act lazy, and not engage in anything the character finds entertaining.
Examples of Facial Expressions and Body Language:
This image includes various amounts of facial expressions each one indicating a different emotion or expression based on the stimuli experienced
Light and Color
Light and Color can affect the scene's mood as emotions can also be correlated with the light within a certain scene, color can also affect the scene, for example, if there is a red big button, that might indicate that if pressed something dangerous will occur, and for the light, if the scene is more dramatic or serious then shadows will be more dominant in the scene as lack of lighting portrays a more mysterious look towards the character ( Low Key Lighting ). If the scene is more happy and normal, then there will be natural lighting ( High Key Lighting )
Example of light and color:
This scene includes light and color and can be represented as a more dramatic fight scene as there is a lack of light and the only bright colors are vibrating from the weapons.
Positioning of characters/objects within the frame
Analysing Mise en Scene
The setting in this scene seems to be a cold mountainside with ambient light. The costumes of the characters seem to be formal for both as the main character in the black suit seems to have formal wear. There are little props in this scene, the main prop we can observe is the handbag the main character is wearing ( the guy in the suit ). Their facial expressions appear both scared and surprised at the same time. The color and light appear to be a cold blue mixed with ambient light, creating a more natural look.
The setting for this scene seems to be outside with a laptop as the main prop and the chair. The costume of the character appears quite basic, much like a regular outfit, nothing fancy. The facial expression of this character seems to be curious as he is curiously looking up, and the body language seems to be calm. The lighting seems to be ambient while the color appears to be a bit more on the darker side suggesting that it is night outside. The character is positioned on the chair sitting while looking up.
The setting for this scene seems to be in the water as their clothes appear wet, there are no props in this scene. Their costumes seem to be looking like a regular outfit, nothing too special, and their hair looks frozen which suggests that it is freezing cold outside. The light seems to be ambient light ( natural light ) while the color is a cold blue also suggesting that it is cold outside. The positioning of the characters appears very close to each other, indicating a sense of love.
This setting looks like the characters are in the open sky with nothing visible in the background ( except the ropes ), there are no visible props in this scene. Their costumes appear to be old-fashioned, back in the 1900s, with the main character in front appearing to wear a robe across her arms. Their facial expressions appear happy and satisfied while their body language also indicates a sense of romantic gestures as the main gesture is the guy behind her holding her waist. The lighting in this scene seems to be high key lighting as their foreheads appear to be shiny due to the bright light, the color seems to look like a warm orange color indicating that this is a warm romantic scene.
The setting for this scene appears to be a dining room, at the dinner table, the props used are just typical food supplies along with candles, plates, and cutlery. Their costumes appear to look old much like the 80s style, the woman on the left has a very old classical hairstyle. The facial expressions of these characters appear to be quite sad/bored/worried about something, and their body language appears to be still. The light in this scene seems to be low-key lighting as the room is quite dark which can resemble a dramatic moment, the color seems to be a dark shade of yellow mainly because of the yellow blinds being reflected by the light. Their positioning seems to be in chairs with little to no movement while the objects are mostly on the table with some in the background such as the lamp, portrait on the wall, and a chair that is not being occupied.
Typographic rules for magazine design
Rules for typography need to be followed in order to create a proper magazine. Some of the main rules are:
1) Prioritise legibility and readability fonts as it will make it easier for the reader to understand
2) Select fonts that can be used in the body of the article which will be the leading part of the text
3) Use regular/standard fonts for the main parts of your text and can only change the title and subtitles
4) Only use 2 types of fonts or fewer as the text will look more suitable.
5) If you desire to use more than 2 fonts, use fonts that are similar in height or from the same period.
6) Connect the fonts to the content's character and the preferences of the readers.
7) It is important to know where your information will be displayed, that way you can accommodate the right measurements of your information.
8) By far the most important step, is to test your design, as you will be able to determine whether your design works or not.
Magazine Cover Analysis
This Magazine cover looks very interesting, the building seems to be in the middle of the cover indicating that the magazine will be associated with buildings and architecture. The blue sky acts as a background color for the title of the magazine to be visible along with additional text. The wall has a leading line which is a rule that photographers use to create guidance to the actual subject in the photo.
The title seems to have a bold font along with white San Serif text to create simplicity. There is a dark blue text that fits with the color of the wall.
Magazine spread Analysis
This is my own analysis of a magazine spread, I've pointed out key pieces that this spread is composed of.
Primary research - Trip Photos Art Gallery
These photos were taken inside the British Art Gallery in central London. I find most of these paintings interesting as they really caught my eye in thinking about the context behind these paintings.
This painting really stood out to me mainly because of how large this painting was but also the fact that this painting shows a family in the middle while angels are flying away in the sky while looking down at the family. This can indicate the fact that the gods are watching over people and seeing what they do in their everyday lives.
This painting looks really nice as the horse is painted beautifully with the right shades of colors blended perfectly to display this majestic-looking horse
This painting represents a town or city that may look underdeveloped due to the lack of financial benefits the town has, the color scheme fits perfectly with real life, providing a more real look to this painting.
InDesign Exercises
This is my first time creating a magazine spread in InDesign, I really like the outcome and how this spread turned out, I've included a title, subheadings, pull quotes, image, and other magazine-related stuff inside this magazine spread.
Website analysis Good Websites
Argos Website
The website I will analyse will be the official website for Argos as the website has a lot of things going on to help customers navigate properly through their website.
The aim of the website
The website's purpose is to sell customers items online and acquire people's interest through the products the website might offer and also by labeling the product's prices to an optimal amount that the customers might find appealing.
Website Navigation
The aim of this website is to provide helpful guidance for people to navigate easily through their online shop. This is achieved by using a simple website design without any fancy buttons or misunderstanding navigations.
Example: The official Argos website has basic navigation buttons to help users understand the purpose of each button and where the button is going to lead the user.
The navigation is also composed of "Account" which allows users to create a personal profile within the website in order to gain more accessibility and recognition from website cookies within the website.
Content of the website
The content advertised on this website is mostly products that the company owns, trying to sell them to new customers in an attempt to increase their financial benefits. These products range from a wide variety of categories, some including, Kitchen hardware, Gardening, Home Decore, etc
The products have a very appealing look to them mainly to attract customers into purchasing their desired item. The price might also play a role in customers' interest.
How organized is the website?
The website looks pretty organized as the website provides very simple and understanding guidance for users. The website includes very big images of products the website might sell. The background has a clean white background although some users can change it if desired. Overall the design of the website is very clean, understanding, and helpful.
My personal opinion on the website.
The official Argos website provides users with a range of items that might captivate their interests. However, everything looks pasted out without any form of design besides their basic approach which makes me feel like I have so much to choose from and cannot decide on one official product unless I have the product I want in mind.
Vue Website
The purpose of this website is to promote new and upcoming films based on people's favorite genres of film this includes, including horror, action, adventure, comedy, and drama. This website also allows people to buy tickets online which can be then used inside the cinema as a pass for customers to view the film.
Website Navigation
The website provides a very simple navigation system that can be used by viewers to navigate across the website. Some of the navigation is composed of "What's on" where people can check what films the website promotes, "Trailers" where people can see what a certain film is about before purchasing tickets, "Coming soon" which allows people to see what are the new upcoming films, "Big Screen Events" where people can identify the location the film is going to take place and "Gift Cards" where people can transfer money onto a certain card which can then be only used to buy products by what the company has to offer.
Website Content
The website is composed of film covers along with some images from the film that depict the context of a certain movie. The website also provides film descriptions where people can read and understand the story being portrayed within the film.
How well is the website organized?
The website has a theme for black, this is to make the viewer feel comfortable and easy on the eyes. The website is very simple and easy to understand as everything is organized individually. The text is legible and easy to read.
Personal Opinion about the website
I really like the design of this website, everything is beautifully organized and simple, and the website has made it clear what it is about and what the website promotes, the website's color scheme suits perfectly with what the website is offering. I can't think of any possible changes that could be applied to this website to make it any more useful than it already is.
Website Analysis Bad Websites
A bad website can be described as a website that lacks the major fundamentals of what a proper website should be composed of. Some include Bad navigation which can lead viewers to nowhere, No purpose or anything that the website provides, Illegible text, and bad visuals.
An example of a website like this is "The World's Worst Website" which I have found online. This website has no navigation bar and has bad visuals.
The purpose of this website is to show what a bad website looks like. This website demonstrates how lacking key components of a website can make it hard for people to use and also can affect the appearance of what an actual website needs to look like.
This website is called "The World's Worst Website"
This website has:
- Bad Visuals, creating an unpleasant view to look at.
- Horrible navigation, which can confuse the users and can get them lost on the website.
- Illegible text, which makes the information really hard to read
- Animated visuals, which can be distracting to people and cannot concentrate on the purpose of the website
Another bad website will be "LingsCars.com"
https://www.lingscars.com/
LingsCars.com is a unique and unconventional car leasing website known for its vibrant and eccentric design. Run by Ling Valentine, the site offers a wide range of lease deals for various vehicles, accompanied by humorous and unconventional content. Ling's approach is distinctive, blending business with a touch of humor and personal charm to stand out in the competitive car leasing industry.
This website's visuals are horrible and have no style other than being goofy. This website has also lots of animations which can be distracting. The navigation is okay but is hard to use as the navigation can sometimes lead you to unwanted pages.

Planning my Website
My website is going to be aimed at tourists who are traveling around London, suggesting places to visit and activities to participate in to get the most out of their trip to London. My website is going to be simple and easy to use by everyone, including non-English speakers.
Navigation
This is the navigation system that I've planned to use on my official website. I've planned my navigation system to be simple and easy to use. I'm going to use this as an example of what my website's navigation should be like, although some stuff may be changed.
Homepage - The homepage will consist of photos and a description of London and what the place is like. This page will also include up-to-date information about London. The main components of this page will be the Navigation system which is composed of Places to visit, Events, and Travel and Transport.
Places to Visit - This page will have the top 5-10 places to visit in London. This page will also have a brief description of each place, to inform the reader of what it is about. The page will have a map of London, landmarking each location for the viewers to see.
Events - This page talks about the activities that can be performed within London, as a way of entertainment for tourists. Much like the "Places to Visit" page, the event page will include the top 10 activities to be done in London while providing an entertaining experience.
Travel and Transport - This page will show the viewers how to arrive at their desired location in London, recommending the best transportation methods to use in order to arrive at their desired destination.
Style of Website
This is my website sketch, it is what I would like my website to look like, this sketch is just a brief idea that im going to use as guide for my actual website, some components will be changed depending on how well the components make the website look.
Area of Investigation - Community
Planning
I chose community as my area of investigation mainly because community can range from cultures to people to activities being performed within a certain community of people. A community can be linked with a bunch of different topics which will grant me the opportunity to come up with my own community of people.
These were the ideas I came up with when I thought of this topic, and most of these ideas are linked to the community.
Name Ideas for a Magazine.
These are some of the names for a magazine that I came up with, some of these names can be related to some communities of people while some are just made up just to sound good on the magazine. The name that I'm going to use for my magazine cover is "Guidance" as my community will be based on London tourists and will need guidance towards London.
Typefaces and Styles for Magazine
For the font of the title I've experimented with different type fonts that I think will work well for my magazine cover, some of them are :
1) Copperplate Gothic Bold
This font has a very unique look to it, it is a serif text that provides a nice design that can be used for book covers and magazines.
2) Georgia
Another font that I really like is "Georgia" which is also a serif font that brings a lovely design to any title you can think of. This font can work well with my magazine cover as the slick design of the font can make the text look inviting.
3) Bell MT
This is the last font that I like, and that can also work brilliantly with my magazine cover. This font is a serif font which looks pleasing.
My Official Magazine
This is the finished product that I've made using InDesign. This magazine went according to plan which I'm really proud of. For the cover, I used my planned type font for the title along with other fonts for the sub-titles to make it look like a proper magazine cover. I've also included a contents page that shows what can be read inside this magazine, I've kept the design clean and simple which makes it easy to understand and read. Finally, I've created my magazine spread which consists of 2 pages that include information about London and places to visit in London, I also kept the design simple and clean as I like the look of simplicity within magazines, I've also included original photographs of places I've been in London for the readers to get an idea of what London looks like.
There are some things I could have done better such as being a bit more creative with my design and probably adding more details to my magazine to make it stand out even more. Overall, I love how this magazine turned out, the visuals are pleasing and eye-catching and everything went according to plan.
Adobe XD Experimentation
I made this mobile website prototype using Adobe XD, this is a furniture website that I've made using shapes and text tools from Adobe XD. I've also inserted a background image of an aesthetic room to match the website and it also provides a great visual for the website. I've included photos of furniture that I've found online and placed them into different categories such as "50% OFF" and "Christmas Specials" and included reasonable prices for each product.
I've made separate pages which consist of the "login page", where users can create an account and access the website freely, and the "product page", where users can see what products are available on this furniture website.
I really like how well this experiment went, I found Adobe XD really easy to use and understandable, and I'm looking forward to continuing to use Adobe XD for further projects.
App Experimentation Recording
This is a recording of me using the experimentation app that I've made in Adobe XD, this experimentation was really fun to make and mess about with, Adobe XD is really easy to use and I'm looking forward to using Adobe XD in the future for any projects I may have to do on Adobe XD.
Mobile App Mind Map
Informative
I chose Informative for my official app as my subject is based on the community of tourists. My mobile app will include information about London and what can be done in London. I also stated other possible ways my app could work in my mindmap as they all relate to helping tourists in London.
MoodBoard
This is my mood board of what I would like my app to include in regard to helping tourists in London, I've included color schemes, images of landmarks, transport, maps, type fonts, style, and logos of London that all can be used in my app.
Research Mobile App
Mobile App: YouTube
YouTube is an App created by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim that enables users to share with other people videos via online. The app was developed in San Bruno, California, United States, and was launched on February 14, 2005.
YouTube was bought by Google in October 2006 for $1.65 billion. Google then began generating revenue from adverts, offering paid content such as movies and content produced by YouTube. YouTube also has YouTube Premium, which is a subscription plan that enables users to watch videos without any advertisements/interruptions.
Youtube Logo
The YouTube logo looks very iconic and unique, the red cylinder-like shape with a white triangle in the middle indicates the play button which is used to play the videos you watch on YouTube, the play button clearly inspired YouTube to use it for their design of the logo. This logo looks very clean and great which makes it a very good logo to use for their app.
Youtube visuals
YouTube has a very basic way of distributing videos on its app, at the top left corner, you can see the YouTube logo, and below it is a sub-menu that leads users to different YouTube pages. On the main page, you have videos of what people posted, most of these videos appear based on what you currently have searched on YouTube, acting as some sort of recommendation for you to watch.
YouTube also has a Sign-in button at the top right corner for users to create an account where they can post videos for themselves. Some users use YouTube for their own financial benefits as YouTube rewards people with money based on how many views user's videos get. YouTube videos have titles on videos
This YouTube display looks great, clean, and easy to understand. The buttons have a nice design to them which makes the menu icons more understandable and easy to use. The videos can easily be accessed without any problems.

Irma Boom is a renowned Dutch graphic designer known for her innovative book designs. She has worked with various clients, including museums and cultural institutions. One notable project is her collaboration with the Rijks Museum in Amsterdam. Boom's designs often push the boundaries of traditional bookmaking, emphasizing conceptual and visual elements. Her work has earned her numerous awards and recognition in the design world.
Irma Boom is celebrated for her innovative book designs, some of her notable works include
1) SHV Think Book - 1996
A groundbreaking design that utilized varying paper sizes and colors to represent different sections, showcasing Boom's experimental approach. The creative approach represents Boom's vision of what her style and art process can have on a book. The vibrant, red coating on the side of the pages really captivates the viewer's attention while the information in the book seems to appear quite unique while the artwork on the opposite page appears interesting.
2) Elements of Architecture by Rem Koolhaas - 2014
Boom collaborated with architect Rem Koolhaas on this extensive book, employing a unique layout and typography to enhance the reader's experience. This book cover appears to have a unique presentation of colors, the blue base background makes the typography legible while the text color seems to have an opposite shade to the blue background. The title and text are composed of green, pink, and orange backgrounds, making the text even more legible and understandable.
3) Biography in Books - 2010
This monograph about Irma Boom herself is a testament to her design philosophy. The book explores her projects and includes insightful commentary on her approach to book design. The cover of this book by far has to be the most distinctive design that I have ever seen, the cover features a small book attached in the center of the cover, while the typography consists of a basic font in regards to having a simplistic approach.
Magazine cover Sketch
Magazine Spread Sketch
This is my magazine spread sketch, I've taken inspiration from other magazines that I've found online and managed to combine key elements from other magazines into this sketch as an idea of how my magazine spread should look.
This is my magazine cover sketch that I made using Microsoft Paint, This is my vision of what I would like my magazine cover to look like. I really hope that the final product will turn out to be something like this although I will consider changing some elements within the actual magazine cover.
Where would my magazine be distributed?
My magazine will be for tourists who are looking for guidance when traveling within the London streets. My magazine will be advertised in London specifically in attraction places such as museums and other popular landmarks where most tourists can be found. This way my magazine can be accessed by more tourists and get more clients who may be interested in my products.
Audience Demographic
My target audience will be tourists aged 16+ who are interested in learning about London and where they should go to visit places to get the most out of their trip to London.
Planning original Photography
These are some photos that I've taken myself in London, that can be used to demonstrate attraction places within London. I have more photos that I'm going to be using in my actual magazine but I only used two of them as an example.
Secondary research
Based on the website "visitlondon.com", the best things to do in London are, visiting the London Cable Car, discovering the magnificent Hampton Court Palace, taking a tour of Buckingham Palace, climbing the dome of St Paul's Cathedral and visiting The Tower Bridge. The website also advertises markets and shops in London for tourists to buy from, some shops include, Westfield, Vintage fashion shops, and London's Best Markets.
Content of my Magazine
My magazine is going to be composed of images of places within London while providing a brief description of the place and what to do there. I will also include a simplified London map that will make it easier for tourists to travel and navigate through the London streets.
Opening Scenes Analysis
Barbie 2023
The opening scene takes place in a desert, typically an Argentinian desert where we are introduced to infant female children playing with old-fashioned dolls, much like how the children are dressed. These children seem to be unsatisfied with the dolls and playing with them only to attempt to feed their satisfaction and cure their boredom, which seems to not work.
We are then introduced to a freakishly tall lady from a low-angle shot, who seems to be dressed in a more modern style of clothing, typically beach clothing which grants the children's attention with amazement and joy.
The children suddenly start to destroy the old dolls and everything that they played with as a sign of unacceptance of the old equipment they used for entertainment and in need of the new and improved dolls that is shown to be the tall lady.
There are no signs of weaponry or transport in this opening scene.
There seems to be a narrator describing how the old dolls were outdated by the new and improved doll named Barbie which is described as being independent and how Barbie can become whatever Barbie wants.
The character of Barbie is a stereotype of feminist women.
The setting is in a desert but does change into the real world and Barbie's world.
The costumes in the first scene appear old-fashioned and outdated but do change to modern looks.
The Exposition
The exposition in this opening scene of Barbie is delivered through the character's occupation which is every job or career in the world. Barbie is presented as an independent woman who can become whatever she wants, which influences the children to do the same.
The writer constructs character occupations through the representations of different Barbie dolls with different outfits for different job occupations. The writer also made it clear through the words Barbie used to describe herself as independent and capable of achieving everything Barbie wanted.
Avengers Endgame
The setting for this opening scene seems to be set in the American countryside where we are introduced to a father and daughter who seem to be engaging in archery. The father is teaching his daughter how to shoot a bow. We are then introduced to his family which is composed of his wife and 2 sons who seem to be playing baseball while the mother is setting up a picnic for everyone to eat.
Suddenly his family disappears and ends up panicking and wondering where everyone went.
The costumes the characters are wearing seem to be modern classic clothing mainly from the years of 2000s. The only form of weaponry in this scene is the bow and arrow which was used for practice by his daughter. There was no form of transportation being used except for the cars in the background.
The characters have a typical family stereotype which represents family life and the activities being performed within a family.
The Exposition
The exposition in this opening scene of Endgame is shown through

Mindmap Opening Scene Ideas
This is my Opening Scene Mind-map, where I share my ideas about what my opening scene will be about. I chose Gym as my opening scene theme as it's very easy for me to access and film. The other ideas are also college-related as it is a place where I will film the most in, without having to switch locations, this way it saves me more time that can be used to film.
Opening scene Idea Generator
This is my NICS about my opening scene, featuring Narrative, Iconography, Character, and Setting aspects of an opening scene. I described and made my own ideas for a story about an Average Gym goer who has plans on getting on stage.

Official Opening Scene
This is the opening scene I personally created with a basic Canon camera, I was behind the camera work, stage directing/ directing, and film editing, while Eoin Duffy and Eoin Daly were the main actors in this opening scene. After the recording, I uploaded the video on Premier Pro and began editing the opening scene, I found Adobe Premier pro really easy to use and it gave me some form of enjoyment when editing this opening scene.
Opening Scene Evaluation
It has been a pleasure working on this opening scene and I really enjoyed filming and editing. This project has made me use my creativity to get unique camera shots and angles. This opening scene has made me improve my teamwork skills to direct and express my ideas on camera and also my communication skills to share my ideas for this opening scene.
I've done some research on famous opening scenes like the opening scene for the Barbie film, where I got the inspiration for some of the camera angles and actually used some for my own opening scene. This research has helped me a lot in this opening scene as without the research, my opening scene would have looked quite bland and boring.
I then moved on to planning which granted me lots of potential ideas that I could have used for my opening scene. I have planned out my storyboard which enabled me to get a clear vision of how my opening scene should look like. I have also planned my script which I sadly didn't use in my opening scene due to the lack of time, but I have made my script in such a way to relate to my opening scene.
I moved on to producing my final product, most of the filming was done inside and outside using a basic Canon camera with a stabilizer to reduce camera shake as much as possible, I also used different camera shots and angles to get a more unique perspective and to make the viewer somewhat engaged within the opening scene. After the filming, I successfully uploaded the scenes on Adobe Premier Pro and began editing. The editing phase was easy as it only required me to cut any unnecessary bits and pieces to make the footage smoother, and then I connected the scenes together so that they both correspond with each other, I then used some ambient background song I found online to fit the scene, then finally I have credited everyone who has helped with the filming in my opening scene.
The audio I used was mainly the soundtrack that I found online and credited, I was going to add my own audio with the script that I planned but we did not have enough time to introduce the script in my opening scene so I ended up finishing the film with great camera shots to get the viewers more engaged.
The best thing that went well with my opening scene was the filming as it all went incredibly smoothly and the way I wanted. I really liked experimenting with different camera shots and angles as I tried to get a more unique way of presenting different scenes.
The thing that went less well was the fact that the locations did not go according to plan and I had no other choice but to change everything and go off plan, but still managed to get some pretty great scenes either way, also the script was not useful as we didn't have enough time to include the script on my opening scene.
Overall, I enjoyed filming and editing this opening scene and I'm looking forward to doing more stuff like this in the future.

Dialog Instructional Video
This is my own recording of a video that I edited using Adobe Premier Pro. I used my voice recording to match with the visuals using a boom mic in order to cancel any unwanted echoes and background noise. The second part of the video, it is the raw footage without any edits as a way to show the after and before results.
Soundscape research
A soundscape refers to the acoustic enviroment surrounding a listener. It encompasses all the sounds in a particular area, including natural elements like birdsong or flowing water, as well as human made sounds such as traffic or voices. Soundscape sounds are often used in films which is essential for making scenes feel more ambient and more natural.
Pros of Soundscape
Improved wellbeing - Thoughtfully designed soundscapes can enhance mental well being by reducing stress and increasing relaxation
Ecological Awareness - Studying natural soundscapes fosters ecological awareness and can aid conversation efforts.
Cultural Preservation - Soundscape research can help preserve and understand cultural sound traditions and their significance
Cons of Soundscape
Noise pollution - In urban areas, unwanted sounds can still dominate contributing to noise pollution and negatively affecting health.
Resource Intensity - Implementing soundscape improvements in urban may require significant resources and collaboration.
Limited control - Some factors contributing to soundscapes, such as weather or neighboring activities, may be beyond control, making it challanging to create desired enviroments consistenly
Diegetic and Non Diegetic
Diegetic sound
Diegetic sound refers to any sound that originates from within the world of the story being told in a film, TV show, or other narrative medium. These sounds are part of the narrative and are heard by both the characters and the audience. Examples include dialogue, footsteps, and sounds from objects within the scene.
Pros of Diegetic sound
Realism - Diegetic sound contributes to the realism of a scene by replicating the auditory enviroment experienced by the characters.
Immersive Experience - It enhances the audience's immersion in the narrative, making them feel more connected to the story and characters.
Contextual Information - Diegetic sounds often provide contextual information about the setting, time, and events within the story.
Cons of Diegetic sound
Distraction - Poorly executed diegetic sound can distract the audience if it is too loud, unclear, or if the sounds are unrelated to the narrative, disrupting the viewers focus.
Limited Emotional Impact - The awareness of artificial sound elements may reduce emotional impact, as viewers may become more concious of the production techniques rather than being fully engrossed in the story.
Technical Challanges - Achieving a seamless intergration of diegetic sound requires techincal precision, and any flaws in execution can detract from the overall viewing experience.
Non - Diegetic sound
Non Diegetic sound refers to the audio elements that are not part of the fictional world within a narrative. These sounds exist outside the story's space and are typically added during the post-production phase. Non-diegetic sounds include background music, voiceovers, and sound effects that are not naturally heard by the characters in the scene.
Pros of Non-Diegetic sound
Emotional Enhancements - Non-diegetic music can heighten emotional impact by creating mood and atmosphere, influencing the audience's feelings and engagement with the narative.
Narrative Guidance - Voiceovers and non-diegetic elements can provide essential information, guide the audience through the story or offer insights that enhance understanding.
Flexibility - Non-diegetic sound allows for creative freedom, enabling filmmakers and storytellers to manipulate audio independently of the on-screen events to achieve specific effects.
